A spinney is a small grove or copse. I am very happy to call this little spinney home, within its banks grow oak, beech, ash, elm, hazel, hawthorn, blackthorn, elder, willow, holly, maple, birch and tall pines. Under their gentle arms I have a place to work, dream, play and listen. It is a blessing to be a guardian of this little patch of the world which offers me so much inspiration, discovery, food, medicine, hard work and magic. It is a gift to be able to share the space with friends, also to be able to retreat, plan and create. Creatures of many kinds dwell here, birds are born here, plants are nurtured, fires burn and children play. My felt work is created here and often inspired by the magic within…

When the leaves have gone there is a new lightness.Time to get the Finnish wool out,it is a wonderfully strong but gentle fleece, not too hairy but dense and warm.
Little folk on some beautiful slices of macrocarpa. The spinney is blessed and overshadowed by these tall beasts. They shelter us and other creatures, give us room to climb, provide firewood and furniture…and they smell like pencils.
